London 25/01/2016 - Gulf Aluminium Rolling Mill (Garmco) will increase production of aluminium slabs to 120,000 tonnes per year through an extension of its remelting facilities, it said.

The remelt project, in collaboration with French industrial engineering group firm Fives, is an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) Turn-Key project that will enable Garmco to develop its metal recycling capability and lower the cost of metal casting, the Bahrain-based company said in a statement on Monday.

The total cost of the project is an expected $55 million and is part of a three-year programme. Construction is set to begin in March 2016 and end in November next year.

Garmco is the first and one of the largest downstream aluminium facilities in the Middle East for rolling, cutting and fabricating aluminium, with total capacity of 165,000 tonnes per year.
