London 26/01/2016 - Stephen Branton-Speak, formerly at investment bank Goldman Sachs, has joined Concord Resources as a director in London, FastMarkets understands.
Concord Resources Ltd was set up in October last year by former Noble traders Mark Hansen, David Freeland and Scott Evans. It has the backing of private investors including Ospraie Management's Dwight Anderson and MKS Pamp group.
Branton-Speak was the global head of metals at Goldman Sachs until the end of 2012. He was also a board member of the London Metal Exchange (LME) until then.
In 2013, he set up trading firm Calnic Investments Ltd and consulting firm Calnic Commodity, advising clients such as Bank of China on their strategy, business plans and staffing.
Branton-Speak had been with Goldman Sachs from 1997 as a metals trader and became a partner in 2008 until he left in 2012 - several Concord traders including David Freeland and Paul Chen have also worked for Goldman Sachs in the past.
Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Branton-Speak worked at Engelhard as a precious metals trader. He was for some time on the management committtee of the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA).
