London 26/01/2016 - Cargill Financial Services Europe will begin trading and clearing as a category two member of the LME from February 1, the exchange said in a notice.

Cargill International is currently a category five member of the exchange. This is the lowest category of the LME's multi-tiered membership structure - Cat 5s have no trading rights except as clients.

Category two members have all the privileges of ring dealing members (RDMs) but they may not trade in the ring. They can operate through the 24-hour inter-office market and are members of the FSA.

Cargill has moved in and out of the metals business several times in the past, more recently during the 2008 financial crisis.

The company has team members working on its base metal strategy in New York, Miami and Minneapolis.
