Winter Park, Florida 01/03/2016 - Estimated net shipments of aluminum sheet and plate by US and Canadian producers totalled 662.8 million pounds (300,000 tonnes) during January, off 3.8 percent year-on-year, the Aluminum Association reported.
Compared to the previous month, shipments rose 2.7 percent over the December 2015 revised total of 645.1 million pounds or 293,000 tonnes, the trade group said.
Shipments of can stock totalled 333.3 million pounds (151,000 tonnes) in January, down 5.5 percent year-on-year, while shipments of non-heat treatable sheet (excluding Can Stock) decreased 10.9 percent to 210.2 million pounds (95,000 tonnes) and shipments of all other sheet and plate increased 19.1 percent to 119.2 million pounds or 54,000 tonnes, it added.
Preliminary shipments of sheet and plant for full year 2015 totalled 8,317.6 million pounds, up 2.0 percent over the 2014 total of 8,152.6 million pounds.
