Singapore 06/04/2016 - Japan’s Mitsubishi Materials expect higher refined copper and lead production in the first half of its fiscal year 2016 which ends March 2017, the company announced in its production plan late last week.

The producer will target refined copper output of 169,650 tonnes in April-September, up four percent year-on-year.

In the current half year, the company’s copper output is expected to increase four percent at its Naoshima smelter and refinery, where production had fallen last April due to a periodic maintenance shutdown. Production at its Onahama smelter and refinery is also expected to rise five percent in April-September.

It estimates refined copper production at 166,518 tonnes in October 2015-March 2016.

Mitsubishi Materials will target refined lead production of 14,082 tonnes in the first half, up 10.1 percent year-on-year.

It estimates refined lead output at 13,638 tonnes in the second half of fiscal 2015.
