Singapore 11/04/2016 - Yu Dehui has been elected as the chairman and non-executive direction of Aluminium Corp of China (Chalco) in an extraordinary general meeting held by the company last Friday, Chalco said in a filing to the Hong Kong stock exchange late on the same day.
Aged 56, Yu is currently the general manager and director at Chalco’s parent company, Chinalco.
He had previously held senior positions in the Chinese government including the deputy head at the State Bureau of Environmental Protection and vice chairman of the government of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
Yu graduated from Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) and School of Economics of Paris West University Nanterre La Défense, majoring in development economics, with a doctoral degree in economics.
Yu succeeds Ge Honglin who had resigned on February 16.
