London 03/05/2016 - Nat le Roux has resigned as an independent director on the London Metal Exchange (LME) and the LMEClear board, the exchange said on Tuesday.

Le Roux, chairman of Scotgold Resources, was appointed to the board in December 2012, having previously served for four years on the board of LME Holdings Ltd.

"Le Roux's contributions have been particularly valuable during the LME’s commercialisation process and in the creation of the new clearing house. We wish him well," LMEClear chairman Richard Thornhill said.

He will be replaced by Antony Stuart, a chartered accountant with 30 years of experience as an investment banker and corporate adviser. Before his retirement in 2011, he was managing director at NM Rothschild.

"His commercial expertise will be extremely valuable in building and strengthening the business of the two companies," Sir Brian Bender, chairman of the LME, said.
