METALS DATA - China's output of aluminium down, total metals up on-year in April

Singapore 16/05/2016 - China’s production of electrolytic aluminium fell 1.2 percent year-on-year and 1.9 percent month-on-month to 2.57 million tonnes in April, according to data published by the country’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Saturday.

In March, China’s aluminium production had risen 2.7 percent year-on-year to 2.62 million tonnes.

Chinese aluminium production totalled 9.94 million tonnes in January-April, down 1.7 percent from the same period last year.

Meanwhile China’s output of ten major nonferrous metals, including aluminium, rose 1.7 percent year-on-year but fell 1.4 percent to 4.25 million tonnes in April, taking year-to-date production to 16.36 million tonnes. This is up 0.3 percent from the same period last year.

Additionally, overall industrial production in the country’s nonferrous metal smelting and fabricating industry increased 11 percent year-on-year in April and 10.1 percent year-on-year in the first four months of the year.
