Singapore 21/06/2016 - China’s exports of aluminium fabricated products rose 2.9 percent year-on-year and 2.8 percent month-on-month to 370,000 tonnes in May, according to final trade data published by the country’s General Administration of Customs on Tuesday.
The latest figure took year-to-May exports to 1.68 million tonnes, down 7.4 percent from the same period last year.
The country’s exports of unwrought aluminium and aluminium alloy slipped 11.5 percent year-on-year to 42,781 tonnes in May, taking year-to-date exports to 218,901 tonnes. This is down 11.4 percent from January-May last year.
Meanwhile, China’s alumina imports tumbled 48.5 percent year-on-year to 180,000 tonnes in May. Imports decreased 4.5 percent year-on-year to 1.52 million tonnes in January-May this year.
Chinese aluminium scrap imports dipped 14.4 percent year-on-year to 150,000 tonnes in May, taking January-May imports to 690,000 tonnes. This was down 17.6 percent year-on-year.
