London 29/06/2016 - China has set an export quota on tin and tin products of 5,113 tonnes for the second half of 2016, according to a statement from China's Ministry of Commerce on Tuesday.

This is down 22 percent from the quota of 6,550 tonnes in the second half of 2015 but the overall export quota for this year is unchanged from last year at 17,000 tonnes.

Export of tins and products from China dropped eight percent year-on-year to 2,111 tonnes in January-May this year, according to the country's latest customs data.

Chinese producers are still subject to a 10-percent export tax and an unattractive physical arbitrage between the LME and the SHFE, which are curbing sales from China, traders and analysts have said.
