METALS DATA - China's NF metal producer price decline eases to 6 pct in June

Singapore 11/07/2016 - China’s ex-works producer prices in the non-ferrous metal smelting and fabricating industry fell 6.1 percent year-on-year in June, according to data released by the country's National Bureau of Statistics on Sunday.

The decline has eased since the beginning of the year – it was at 12.1 percent in January and 7.7 percent in May.

The June prices were down 0.2 percent from May.

Producer prices in the industry dipped 8.8 percent year-on-year in the first half of the year.

Additionally, producer prices in the local nonferrous metal mining sector decreased 1.1 percent year-on-year but rose 0.9 percent month-on-month in June.

Producer prices in the sector slipped 4.9 percent year-on-year in the first six months of the year.

The industries above were part of those surveyed by the bureau to tabulate the country’s producer price index (PPI) for industrial products.

China’s overall June PPI at -2.6 percent registered its 52nd straight month of decline. The fall was in line with market forecast and a slight improvement from May’s reading of -2.8 percent.
