London 06/09/2016 - Operations have resumed at Codelco's Chuquicamata mine on Monday evening - the mine is now one hundred percent operational, the Chilean state-owned miner said today.
Codelco suspended work at the division last Tuesday after two workers died in an accident there.
Chuquicamata is Codelco's second-biggest operation. It produced 309,000 tonnes of cathodes last year, which represented 16 percent of the company's total output.
In the first half of this year, Codelco's mines collectively produced 843,000 tonnes of copper, up 1.4 percent from 831,000 tonnes in the first half of 2015.
