Singapore 19/09/2016 - Workers at Anglo American’s Los Bronces copper mine in Chile have ended a week-long strike after the company reached a wage agreement with two unions last Friday.

The company said the workers have accepted the same wage deal - which includes a bonus of around $13,000 per worker - that they had initially rejected before going on strike, several media reports said.

A total of 85 percent of Los Bronces’ 1,725-strong workforce had voted in favour of the strike after they rejected the company’s end-of-contract bonus offer.

Anglo American had offered unions at Los Bronces an 'end of conflict bonus' of 8.5 million pesos (around $12,700) per worker and soft loans of 2 million pesos in late August but FastMarkets understands the offer was raised to 9 million pesos thereafter.

Los Bronces produced more than 400,000 tonnes of copper in 2015, some seven percent of Chile's total production, according to statistics from the Chilean Copper Commission.
