Winter Park, Florida 20/09/2016 - Aluminium sheet and plate net shipments by US and Canadian producers totalled 760.1 million pounds or 345,000 tonnes during August 2016, a rise of 5.3 percent year-on-year according to the Aluminum Association.
Compared to the previous month, shipments increased 11.5 percent over the July total of 681.8 million pounds or 309,000 tonnes. Year-to-date shipments through August 2016 totalled 5.665 billion pounds or 2.57 million tonnes, up 1.0 percent over the year-to-date 2015 total of 5,607.0 million pounds.
Shipments of can stock totaled 374.4 million pounds during August 2016, a rise of 4.8 percent over the August 2015 total of 357.1 million pounds, while shipments of non-heat treatable sheet (excluding Can Stock) were up 1.0 percent to 251.4 million pounds and shipments of All other sheet and plate increased 15.6 percent to 134.3 million pounds.
