PRODUCER NEWS - Southwire acquires building wire producer United Copper

Winter Park, Florida 20/09/2016 - Southwire Company has bought United Copper Industries, which operates a 450,000 square foot mill and manufacturing plant in Denton, Texas. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“The acquisition expands Southwire's manufacturing capabilities in the company's core building wire products segment and enhances Southwire's geographical footprint, increasing the ability to respond favorably to customer growth in key markets,” Southwire said in a statement.

United Copper is the third largest manufacturer of building wire in the United States, offering a full line of copper building wire products and metal clad cables. It employees 300.

"At Southwire, we remain committed to growth within our core markets. This acquisition provides us with an opportunity to expand one of our largest product offerings for both electrical wholesalers and retail customers," said Norman Adkins, president of Southwire's construction systems and solutions group.

Based in Carrollton, Georgia, Southwire is North America's largest wire and cable producer. The company manufactures utility wire and cable, building wire and cable, industrial power cable, OEM wire products, SCR copper and aluminium rod and continuous casting technology.
