London 22/09/2016 - Physical copper and aluminium trader Vadim Linchevsky has joined Viant Commodities, FastMarkets has learned.

He joins René van der Kam's team in Singapore but will move to Europe next year to help expand the trading firm's trading book in Europe. He will initially continue to focus on copper and aluminium before overseeing other metals.

Linchevsky previously ran Gunvor's European copper and aluminium book in Geneva, having also worked at Gerald Metals for nearly seven years.

Viant Commodities, headquartered in Singapore, was set up in May by van der Kam, who also previously worked at Gunvor.

Gunvor, which is primarily focussed on the oil and energy markets, decided in February this year to scale back its metals business after attempts at expansion in 2014.
