Singapore 04/10/2016 - Japan’s Pan Pacific Copper (PPC) has planned for higher copper production of 283,700 tonnes in the second half of its fiscal year 2016 ending March 2017, according to a company announcement on Monday.

This would be an increase of 42,200 tonnes or 17.5 percent from its output of 241,500 tonnes in the second half of fiscal 2015.

Production from its Saganoseki smelter and Hitachi refinery is expected to increase 18.2 percent year-on-year to 184,700 tonnes, while that at subsidiary Hibi Kyodo Smelting Co is expected to rise 16.2 percent year-on-year to 99,000 tonnes during October 2016-March 2017.

PPC estimates its copper production at 293,100 tonnes in the first half of fiscal 2016 - estimated output at Saganoseki smelter and Hitachi refinery, and Hibi Kyodo were at 191,900 tonnes and 101,200 tonnes respectively in April-September 2016.

The company did not provide reasons for the production increases.

Output at Hibi Kyodo’s Tamano Smelter was affected by a fire in early September last year, with operations at the smelter only resuming in late October.
