Note: CPI in December missed slightly expectations because of vegetable prices. PPI in December is at the highest since September 2011.
In the whole of 2016, CPI rose 2% y/y after edging up 1.4% in 2015, still below the government's annual target of 3%. But PPI dropped 1.4% y/y in last year.
On net, the latest readings for December seem to have triggered renewed buying interest across the base metals.
